The once quite fishing town of San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, has gained international attention and is now a sought out location for TV series and Movies, but more recently, actors.
Over the past few years, living and building a resort here in San Juan Del Sur (The Surf Ranch), this is who we have came across in this now amazing surf town.

1. Matthew McConaughey
Here’s one way of celebrating fatherhood. Matthew McConaughey has raised eyebrows in Nicaragua after the actor, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Camila Alves later this Summer, was snapped dry-humping and trying to get his freak on with random strangers at a beach bar last week.
“He was acting like an out-of-control 18-year-old,” says a Star Magazine spywitness who was on-hand for Matt’s soiree at the Iguana Bar in San Juan Del Sur on June 6th. “He already seemed to be drunk when he arrived alone, and he only got worse from there on. He was putting the make on every woman in his path, throwing his arms around them and trying to kiss them, and trying to dirty-dance with a few out on the floor. But he was a mess, slurring his words and stumbling around.”
“A few minutes after he finally left the bar, someone found him searching through a sewage ditch outside. When they asked him what he was doing, he mumbled, ‘I’ve lost my flip-flops!’”
2. Josh Brolin and Diane Lane
The safety, friendliness and variety of tourist sites that offers Nicaragua to domestic and foreign visitors attracted this time to the American Hollywood couple Diane Lane and Josh Brolin, who for 5 days enjoyed the cool waters of San Juan del Sur, in the department of Rivas.
Diane and Josh came to Nicaragua in order to enjoy a peaceful holiday, celebrating the actor's 42 birthday and Valentine's Day.
The journey of these two figures of Hollywood to Nicaragua was reflected in its pages The Dallas Magazine, which captured the couple's romantic moments of actors. Newspaper article detailing Josh and Diane had dinner at a popular restaurant in San Juan del Sur.
The U.S. daily also produced a report from San Juan del Sur and its neighboring beaches, as well as an overview of Nicaragua and its natural beauty.
These are elements projecting further to Nicaragua in the United States as a new tourist alternative for all citizens of that country.
Diane Lane has appeared in such films as "Chaplin", "Cotton Club", "The Perfect Storm" and "Infidelity", which starred Robert Downey, George Clooney and Richard Gere.
Moreover, her husband Josh Brolin has starred in films like "No Country for Old Men is a," "American Gangster", "History of Harvey Milk," "In the Valley of Elah" and "Hollow Man" in which he had as fellow action to Javier Bardem, Denzel Washington, Sean Penn and Tommy Lee Jones.
3. Penn Badgley (from Gossip Girl)

Here is actor Penn Badgley (actor of the series Gossip Girl) hitting the parties this weekend at the Corona Extra Surfing Party in San Juan del Sur. It is also said that he came with a few of his fellow cast members from Gossip Girl.
4. Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds & Dragon Ball the Movie)
Canadian actor Justin Chatwin was the latest celebrity to visit San Juan del Sur. Chatwin is perhaps best known for playing the son of Tom Cruise’s character in the Steven Spielberg movie War of the Worlds.
Chatwin, now 28, began his acting career in television; with roles in ‘Taken’ and the hit TV show ‘Lost’.
After regular TV work throughout the early 2000s, Chatwin gained recognition his supporting role in the summer blockbuster War of the Worlds and followed that with a role in The Invisible and also played ‘Goku’ in Dragonball.
5. Movie Location - Destination Wedding
Release Date: March 3, 2012
Pelican Eyes will feature on the “Silver Screen” in a Paramount Studios movie entitled “Destination Wedding”. The crew and actors are staying at the hotel and the brand name Pelican Eyes will be featured in the movie. If you missed out on being a contestant in Survivor, Paramount is looking for extras.
Although it may be too late as they are wrapping up filming, there is still a chance to be featured. Most of the tourists in town staying at the hostels, got dressed up and got casted as background actors in the movie, in exchange for a full day of free food and drinks!
The movie is an American Pie style comedy.

6. TV Series - Survivor Season 21 & 22

The twenty-first season of Survivor was filmed in Nicaragua. This was the first time that CBS has filmed Survivor in this country, although it is not the first time that they have filmed Survivor in Central America. The twenty-second season of Survivor, Redemption Island, is also in Nicaragua.

Filming back-to-back saved CBS money, because they only had to hire one crew, and they could reuse some of the infrastructure. It seems that CBS is trying to save money, as you might have been able to tell by some of the rewards in the last couple of seasons: there was no car giveaway in Survivor 19; families weren't even flown out to meet their families.
There have been more celebrities and sports players spotted, but these are the most famous. San Juan Del Sur is Nicaragua's top hot spot vacation destination and the place you will always end up in, when in Nicaragua.
