SURF RANCH · WEATHER & WEEKENDS
A rainy-day itinerary in San Juan del Sur
A flexible morning, lunch and afternoon at Surf Ranch when the beach plan changes. Coordinate lesson times with reception and plan around the weather you actually have.
Breakfast first, beach timing second
A practical rainy morning starts with the plans that have a deadline. Direct rooms include breakfast. If a surf lesson is booked, contact reception before setting out and ask whether the pickup time, meeting point or return time has changed. Let the instructor and reception assess the conditions.
For a family, agree on one update time rather than keeping the children ready for the beach all morning. Have breakfast, leave beach gear together in the room and wait for the confirmed pickup. If it moves past lunch, choose lunch first and agree on a new meeting time.

A lunch stop with a flexible afternoon
If you’re at the resort, ask which tables are usable in the current weather before bringing everyone down for lunch. The restaurant has open-air dining. The food menu lists chicken and vegetarian tacos, wraps and a sharing platter. The separate all-inclusive menu shows what the meal plan covers.
If you’re visiting on a day pass, call reception before setting off and ask about seating, pool access and your reservation if conditions change. The food and drink credit is for your visit date. Check the terms of your own booking before assuming a change of date is possible.

If outdoor activities stay paused
For guests who want to keep their workout, ask whether the resort gym is available that afternoon. If the family would prefer a quiet break, return to your room and choose one activity for later. A condo keeps four guests together, while a villa gives a family two bedrooms for a nap.
If the weather improves, check with staff before resuming pool, skate or beach plans. For a short stay, choose one outing once conditions permit rather than trying to make up the whole morning. For a paid lesson that moves, confirm what is possible directly with reception.
When rain falls on checkout day
Check out by noon and plan around your onward ride. If a beach pickup now overlaps checkout, ask reception about moving the session before heading to the beach. If you need somewhere for bags, confirm arrangements first.
For guests on all-inclusive, coverage ends at noon on departure day. Lunch or drinks later in the day need a separate budget. Check the menu if you plan to eat before driving, and verify transport timing before promising the group a late stop in town.
