SURF RANCH · WEEKEND ITINERARY

Three days in San Juan del Sur

Walk the bay on arrival, spend a full day at the pool or in the waves, then leave time for breakfast before the drive home. This itinerary works for a two-night weekend at Surf Ranch.

DAY 01 · ARRIVAL

Start with the waterfront

Check in at Surf Ranch from 2 pm. The resort is inland, so put town and the bay on the same afternoon’s itinerary.

Walk along the waterfront, choose a spot for dinner and watch the light change over the bay. Before heading out, ask reception about transport and, if you plan to surf tomorrow, arrange your lesson.

DAY 02 · YOUR FULL DAY

Choose a pool day or a surf morning

Kids’ splash pad at Surf Ranch

With kids · Stay poolside

After breakfast, head to the splash pad with the little ones. Take turns on the waterslide, break for lunch by the pool and leave the afternoon open for another swim. Kids need an accompanying adult.

For surfers · Head to the beach

Plan around the lesson time confirmed by reception. Beach choice and timing depend on conditions. Back at the resort, grab lunch and trade the board for a swim. Staying a third night? The three-night package includes two surf sessions with boards and return beach transport.

DAY 03 · DEPARTURE

Keep the last morning easy

Have breakfast between 8 and 10 am, then use the time before noon checkout for a final swim or a walk around the grounds. Pack a dry change of clothes before heading to the pool.

Driving out or catching a flight? Work backward from your departure and confirm your pickup before breakfast. If you have the afternoon free, stop in town for lunch after checking out.

MAP YOUR WEEKEND

One base, two different stretches of coast

Surf Ranch sits inland between San Juan del Sur and Playa Remanso. You’ll be going toward town for the waterfront walk and toward Remanso for the beginner surf option. Treat these as separate outings and agree on a return pickup before leaving the resort.

Waterfront in San Juan del Sur

The town bay · Sunset on foot

Follow the curve of the malecón toward the harbor. If you’re choosing between a sit-down dinner and a sunset walk, walk first while you can still see the boats against the sky. A late arrival? Save the waterfront for lunch before the drive home.

Surfboards resting on the sand at Playa Remanso

Playa Remanso · First lesson

The resort’s surf school uses Remanso for lessons. Ask reception for the pickup time and confirm boards and return transport for the option you book. If conditions change, let the instructor set the timing and switch your pool time to the morning.

Surfers waiting for waves at Playa Maderas

Playa Maderas · Experienced surfers

Already comfortable surfing on your own? The town guide lists Maderas for intermediate and advanced surfers. Ask about the day’s conditions before deciding. It makes a separate outing for experienced friends while first-timers take their lesson at Remanso.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Make the weekend fit your group

Two adults and two children?

A condo fits all four in one unit with two queen beds. Choose the villa for separate bedrooms. On your full day, let younger kids spend the morning at the splash pad with an adult before everyone meets for lunch.

Pool day cut short by rain?

Bring lunch forward, then ask reception when the pool activities can resume. If surf timing changes too, keep the town meal flexible and confirm the new lesson time before setting out.

Breakfast or all-inclusive for two nights?

Direct bookings include breakfast. If you want a sunset dinner in town and lunch at the beach, that leaves room to choose meals as you go. If everyone will spend the full day by the pool, compare the all-inclusive meals and drinks before choosing your room.

Leave one meal unplanned

Put the meal that matters most on your calendar first. If you want dinner by the bay, plan it on arrival evening so the surf pickup on day two can move with the conditions. On breakfast-included rates, you choose and pay for that dinner yourself.

On a two-night trip, the second day is your only full day. Before you leave reception for the waterfront, agree who is confirming the following morning’s pickup and how the rest of the group will hear about a change.
