From Managua Airport to San Juan del Sur
Private shuttle to Surf Ranch
The resort lists approximately two hours between Managua Airport and Surf Ranch. The published price for a private one way transfer is USD 130 for one or two passengers and USD 150 for three or four. Those are group prices. Two passengers travelling together pay USD 130 for the trip, not USD 130 each. Four passengers can compare the USD 150 group rate with the cost of arranging their own car and driving.
What to prepare before choosing an airport transfer
Have the airport, flight arrival time and number of passengers ready. If the party arrives on different flights, decide whether everyone will travel together before selecting the passenger count. For a return trip, work backwards from the time you need to be at the airport. The estimate for the road trip does not include time for baggage collection, waiting for other passengers or checking in for a flight.
If you want to travel by bus
Plan the bus journey in stages. Before leaving the airport, confirm where to board, whether you need a connection, the final departure time and where you will get off. Ask whether the route you are considering connects in Rivas. Arrange the final ride from your stop to the resort independently. We do not publish a current bus schedule or fare for this journey. The two hour private transfer estimate is not a bus timetable.
If you are driving
Set the destination to Surf Ranch Resort in San Juan del Sur rather than just the town centre. Save the directions before leaving the airport and check the route on the day. Use about two hours as a planning estimate for the private road journey, with extra time for stops and traffic. If another family member is navigating, agree on the resort destination before you leave so the driver can concentrate on the road.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Surf Ranch shuttle into town?
No. Surf Ranch does not run shuttles to or from San Juan del Sur town. The airport transfer and the transport included with a surf lesson at Remanso are separate services.
When can I check in?
Check in is at 2 pm. Checkout is at noon. Use your flight time and room dates when arranging the airport journey.
02 · TWO BUS OPTIONS
A direct express or a change in Rivas
Ask for San Juan del Sur at Huembes. If a direct express is operating at a suitable time, stay on it to town. Otherwise ask for Rivas and change at the terminal for the coast. Recheck the timetable and fare on the travel day before choosing between the two options.
Direct express to town
A local route guide estimates around 2½ hours from Huembes on the express. That estimate starts at the terminal, excludes the trip there from the airport or hotel, and varies with stops and traffic. Ask where to get off for your onward pickup.

Board a southbound bus for Rivas. Once there, confirm the vehicle bound for San Juan del Sur. Leave a buffer for the change and for the final taxi from town if your hotel sits inland.

Town bay, inland resort or onward ferry?
For a room at Surf Ranch, send the resort pin near Las Delicias. For lunch or a waterfront hotel, use the malecón or the hotel’s own pin. If you plan to visit Ometepe first, the mainland ferry port is San Jorge near Rivas; arrange that lake connection before heading on to the Pacific coast.
